Hagia Sophia

Hagia sophia or Aya Sofya is the former Greek Orthodox Christian patriarchal cathedral, later an Ottoman imperial mosque and now a museum (Ayasofya Müzesi) in Instanbul, Turkey.

The building became a mosque at May, 29th 1453 untill 1931 during Kesultanan Utsmani reign. At this time, various Christian symbols such as bells, drawings and mosaics depicting Jesus, Mary, Christian saints, and angels were removed or closed. Various Islamic attributes such as mihrab, minbar, and four towers, were added.
